In Loving Memory of Dr. David H. Rosen
(25 February 1945 - 7 May 2024)

My fondest memories of David were simply sitting in his office at the Academic Building on the campus of Texas A&M University. We met regularly for supervision given David’s support of my undergraduate studies in the late 1990s. His office had the professorial charm of organised disorder with papers, binders, books, and postcards. Lots of postcards. It was most soothing to be there given its wise and caring occupant. And the gentle sounds of his treasured tabletop water fountain. A cork board of postcards with meaningful messages and vibrant art always held my attention. One that stood out and which I still hold dear… “Physician. Heal Thyself.”

David’s extraordinary life journey as a physician, healer, creative, and family man is a testament to dedicated contemplation and sharing his gift to the world, even to the very end as he wrote Letters From the End of Life. Like many whose lives he's touched, I am blessed to know David and to receive the fruits of his prodigious intellect, creativity, and above all, overflowing heart.

David was my mentor, my teacher, and my friend.

To know David is most intimate. Intimate in the Zen sense of dancing with awakening.

To know David is to deeply know compassion, loving kindness, joy, humour, and peace.

May you rest in peace, dear friend.
